Illegal Building Control Start Gives Positive Impact

The building demolition along Apuran riverbank, Cengkareng started to have a positive impact. As the proof, the puddle that appeared in the region is now receding rapidly.

The flood recede only takes hours, not days

Nurmansyah (49), a resident of RT 06/07, Kapuk Urban Village said, before the semi-permanent buildings along the riverbanks of Apuran river were dismantled, the region often inundated up to 50 centimeters after the heavy rain.

"The flood does still exist. But the flood was not as high as before, it just take hours to receding now. Unlike the past time which need two days before receding," added Nurmansyah, Friday (1/2).

Djarot Assured the Flood Victims' Aid Distribution

Nurmansyah hoped his area will not be listed as the flooding area since the demolition was applied.

Cengkareng Sub-district Head, Ali Maulana Hakim, said the Jakarta Public Works Department still continues dredging Apuran river.

"Indeed, the impact of demolition and dredging is already felt by residents. The flood recede only takes hours, not days," he admitted.
